On Monday, March 2, 2026, members of WCEA traveled to Tallahassee to advocate for public employees and speak out against SB 1296. Throughout the day, our members met with legislators, shared their experiences as education professionals, and emphasized the critical role that public employees play in supporting our schools, students, and communities. WCEA representatives spoke directly with lawmakers about the potential impact of SB 1296 and why it raises serious concerns for educators and other public workers. Our members made it clear that policies affecting public employees should strengthen—not undermine—the ability of dedicated professionals to serve students and families. The presence of WCEA members at the Capitol demonstrated our continued commitment to advocacy and to ensuring that the voices of educators are heard in the legislative process. By standing together and engaging directly with decision-makers, our members helped highlight the importance of protecting the rights, stability, and professional respect of public employees across Florida.
